TS_200313291-001_72dpiThe practice of acupuncture uses individually wrapped, sterile needles to ensure safety. They feel nothing like the needles used by western medicine. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine in diameter. They are about the width of a human hair.

As the needles are placed at various points along the energy meridians, the patient may feel a mild initial sensation followed by tingling, mild ache or traveling warmth. The patient may not feel anything at all or may experience a sudden pulse of energy similar to a mild tweak of “the funny bone”.
For those who feel comfortable with additional stimulation, the needles may be manipulated or warmed to enhance the efficiency of the treatment.

Relief is often felt immediately or shortly after treatment. Most patients look forward to treatments for the many benefits that are received from acupuncture. These may include pain control, increased vitality, stress reduction, deep relaxation, skin and facial rejuvenation, weight control, relief from addictions, depression, anxiety, allergy symptoms, sinusitis, headaches, migraine, backache, toothache, insomnia, PMS, menopause, digestive disorders, strains, sprains, sports injury, inflammation, asthma, and many more.

Most treatments usually last between 20 and 40 minutes once the needles are placed. For small children and those with a pronounced fear of needles, acupressure and micro-current stimulation can be successfully substituted along the same acupuncture points.
